Special award, inspirational speakers on tap for Texas Women of Influence Gala & Conference

(Seguin) — A local businesswoman will be among those recognized during a major event in Seguin, dedicated to recognizing the top female leaders from across the state. The Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing for its 2023 Texas Women of Influence Gala Night and Conference.

The chamber announced last week that this year’s Guadalupe County Woman of Influence Award will be given to Krista Moreno. Moreno is a life-long Seguin resident and owner of both Bloom Realty and Diamond Air. She was nominated by a community member and chosen by a group of people who reviewed the nominations submitted for this year’s award.

The chamber’s press release described Moreno as the epitome of community service. It says for the past 20 years, she has dedicated countless hours to advocating for students and teachers in the Seguin ISD. She has served on the Seguin Education Foundation Board of Directors for more than 15 years, and she also serves on the Communities in Schools of South-Central Texas Board of Directors. CIS provides a number of support services to students across a large portion of South-Central Texas, including student support services at several campuses in the Seguin ISD.

Moreno also serves on the city of Seguin Planning and Zoning Commission, and she is an active member of the Four Rivers Association of Realtors. In addition to her regular volunteer work, chamber officials say she was also instrumental in organizing the political action committees that helped to pass major bond packages in the Seguin ISD in 2019 and again in 2022.

Moreno will be presented with her honor during the Texas Women of Influence Gala Night, which runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Augst 2 in the Seguin Coliseum.

The gala is part of the kickoff of this year’s event. Day two of the event continues with the conference day on Thursday, August 3 in the coliseum. Organizers say there will be two speakers on the main stage, along with nine breakout sessions, an Inspiration Center, the keynote speaker, and vendor shopping in the lobby area.

The chamber also released the names of the speakers for this year’s conference. The speaker list includes:

Felicia Jeffery – CEO, Gulf Coast Center
