(Marion ) — Marion High School recent grad Owen Schoenvogel has made his college baseball commitment.

On Monday, the right-handed pitcher and power-hitter for the Bulldogs announced he will play collegiate ball at Schreiner University in Kerrville.

The 2023 District 26-3A MVP, Schoenvogel was a senior leader on the Marion pitching staff. He tossed a no-hitter in a 10-0 win for the Bulldogs over Randolph on April 3rd.

Schoenvogel competed in the Valley-Hi Optimist All Star Baseball Game on June 3rd. On June 14th, he took part in the San Antonio Area Baseball Coaches’ Association All Star Game at Wolff Stadium in San Antonio.

Schriener is a Division-III program. The Mountaineers compete in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference going 6-15 in conference play in 2023 and 18-22 overall. Schriener is lead by head coach Ryan Brisbin.

Schoenvogel helped lead Marion to the district championship in 2023. Marion has won 35 straight district games and has not lost a game in district play since 2019. The Bulldogs advanced to UIL Class 3A Region IV Area round and finished the 2023 season with a overall record of 20-9 in head coach Tim Tesch’s 9th year at the helm.
