Vendor spots available at this year's Freedom Fiesta

Vendors flock to downtown during Earth Day market days to shop, and spend time enjoying Seguin. This year, vendors are invited to set up shop at Freedom Fiesta and take the celebration to a whole new level. For information, call the KWED, Seguin Daily News office at 830-379-2234.

Seguin Radio KWED taking applications now

(Seguin) – Seguin Radio KWED is looking for a few good vendors for its annual Freedom Fiesta in downtown Seguin. The radio station this year will welcome vendors to its Fourth of July celebration on Saturday, July 1. Downtown Seguin is well-known for its market days, and this year, KWED invites those folks to come on out to set up shop during Freedom Fiesta.

Helping to coordinate these vendor booths is KWED’s own Linda Duncan.

“We are looking for anyone who sells things and wants to come down to Freedom Fiesta and sell their wares or whatever it is that they are involved in. Maybe they have jewelry, maybe they sell clothing, anything in between. We will welcome them and it’s $150. All you have to do is come and fill out a form, pay the money and you are in,” said Duncan.

Duncan says Freedom Fiesta is among, if not the largest, community celebration to be held in downtown Seguin. She says its homecoming atmosphere allows folks to have a good time and connect with those here in our community.

“Traditionally, Freedom Fiesta is a time for people who come back home. They are visiting for the July 4 weekend, and this is a place where you go and you meet people that you’ve known for a long time, maybe haven’t’ seen in a while but it’s also a good opportunity for those who are new to Seguin to come and see what our community is all about. It’s just a fun time from the Kiddie Parade that begins at 6 p.m. all the way to the entertainment that evening and with the vendors, we just want to give people the opportunity that maybe they can see some things that people have for sale that they didn’t know that these people had these items for sale right here in Seguin and even if you are out of Seguin in the surrounding area, we’d love to have you,” said Duncan.

Those interested in becoming a vendor are asked to stop by the radio station on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The radio station is located at 609 E. Court St.

This year’s Freedom Fiesta will feature live music by Texas Country Music Entertainer of the Year nominee Jesse Raub, Jr. The celebration will also include the annual Kiddie Parade, bounce houses, balloon animals, face painting, food trucks, non-profit food vendors, and beer garden. The celebration, again, will be held on Saturday, July 1 from 6 to 11 p.m. in Central Park. There is no cost to enter.
