(Seguin) — Three Seguin Matadors recently received offers to play football on the collegiate level.
Senior defensive back Donovan Cray received an offer from North American University just outside of Houston on Friday of last week. On Monday, senior tight end Jackson Pond also earned an offer from North American University. Also on Monday, senior offensive lineman Cooper Neumann received an offer from Louisiana Christian University based in Pineville, Louisiana.
North American is an independent NAIA program. The Stallions were 3-8 in the 2022 season.
Louisiana Christian is an NAIA school as well. The Wildcats play in the Sooner Athletic Conference and finished 6-3 in conference play and 7-4 overall in 2022.
Pond and Newmann are coming off Second Team All-District 12-5A seasons for the Matadors in 2022. Cray was an All-District Honorable Mention as a safety last season.
The Matadors will look to extend a program record and make the UIL playoffs for a 6th straight year in 2023. Seguin’s season starts on August 25th on the road against Alamo Heights. The Matadors went 6-5 in 2022 under second year head coach Craig Dailey.
