4th of July Parade DEADLINE nears

(Seguin) – Those planning to celebrate the Fourth of July have two more days in which to secure their spot in this year’s parade route.

Entries will be accepted through the end of day Wednesday for this year’s Biggest-Small Town Fourth of July Parade in Texas. The annual parade is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 4 in downtown Seguin.

Kyle Kramm, Seguin Main Street and CVB director, says the parade continues to be one of the most popular Fourth of July events in the area featuring floats from local businesses, elected officials, churches, schools, military representatives plus many more.

“I think we are getting close to about the 100 mark. It’s a weekday so we kind of anticipated this parade being a little bit smaller than in years past but I think we will probably be 130 to 150 mark for entries which is still a very decent parade. I think our record was about 180 and I think that’s good to know. Those are going to be more on a Saturday when we have the bigger parades,” said Kramm.

Kramm says submitting an entry is easy and free.

“We just really encourage any business, individual, or organization to submit an application and participate. It’s going to be a great event. We are anticipating several thousand people lining the parade route, so we just want everyone to come out decked in their red, white, and blue and celebrate Independence Day,” said Kramm.

Prior to the start of the parade, the community on July 4 is also invited to the annual flag-raising ceremony in Central Park. The ceremony which begins at 9 a.m. will include music, speakers, and pomp and circumstance.

To submit a parade entry, visit the city’s website at seguintexas.gov or contact the Seguin Main Street office at 830-401-5000.

This year’s parade will wrap up Seguin’s four-day Fourth of July celebration. Kicking off events on Saturday, July 1 will be Seguin Radio KWED’s Freedom Fiesta in Central Park from 6 to 10 p.m. The event will include food booths, food trucks, kids’ activities, a Kiddie Parade, vendors, and live music featuring Jesse Raub Jr, a Texas Country Music Entertainer of the Year nominee.

Events continue on Sunday, July 2 with the Patriotic Concert in the Park from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and the city’s annual Fireworks Fiesta at Max Starcke Park on Monday, July 3 at 9:30 p.m.
