Music line-up, food, vendors on tap for 4th of July celebration
(Seguin) – Seguin’s largest summer celebration is now officially one month away. Freedom Fiesta makes its return to downtown Seguin on Saturday July 1. Hosted by Seguin Radio KWED, the annual Fourth of July celebration remains one of the community’s longest running traditions.
Darren Dunn, KWED and Seguin Daily News general manager, says the radio station is proud to announce this year’s music line-up.
“Freedom Fiesta is going big this year. We’ve got top notch entertainment lined-up this year. Jesse Raub Jr will be the headliner.
He’s a Texas Country Music Entertainer of the Year Award nominee. His music, his songs are popular with so many people in Texas, and we think the crowd will love it, said Dunn.
Just like good music, Dunn says this year’s Freedom Fiesta will also feature plenty of good food.
“We’re not just upgrading the music this year, but the non-profit food vendors will be returning this year. They’ve always been such a big part of Freedom Fiesta, since it started in 1967. We paused their participation during the COVID pandemic. Now that the pandemic is largely in our rear-view mirror, we have those folks back out selling delicious goodies for people to enjoy. We’ll also have a solid lineup of food trucks again this year. We are elevating our food game at
Freedom Fiesta, so people should come hungry and thirsty,” said Dunn.
Plenty of family fun is also on tap for the summer evening. Dunn says it’s important to radio staff that folks of all ages are kept busy throughout the event.
“This is all about families coming together to celebrate our nation’s independence. We’ll get things started with the presentation of the colors and the singing of the national anthem. Then the Kiddie Parade starts around the downtown square. There will be plenty of family fun throughout the night, with bouncy houses and other attractions. It should be a good time for everyone,” said Dunn.
Vendors are also being sought for this year’s one day celebration. Dunn says vendors both non-profit and for profit are being encouraged to sign-up for a spot as soon as possible.
“There’s still time for people to secure a vendor booth. If you’ve got goods or services that you’d like to share with the community, this is a great chance for you to do that during Freedom Fiesta. This is something else that we had to eliminate during COVID, but vendor booths are back this year,” said Dunn.
Freedom Fiesta will be held July 1 from 6 to 10 p.m. in Central Park. There is no cost to attend the event.
