SEGUIN, Texas — For the fifth time this season, Texas Lutheran’s Ashlyn Strother (Seabrook/Clear Falls) has been recognized as Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Pitcher of the Week, it was announced today.
Strother struck out eight batters as she pitched her first career perfect game on Friday. It was TLU’s first individual perfect game since Maitlin Raycroft in 2017. Strother (16-1) retired all 15 batters she faced in just 63 total pitches for her third career no hitter. On the season, the reigning SCAC Pitcher of the Year moved to 16-1 with a SCAC-leading 0.53 ERA and 112 strikeouts.
The Bulldogs clinched the No. 1 seed for the 2023 SCAC Softball Championship next weekend, May 5-7, in San Antonio at Trinity Softball Field on the campus of Trinity University. The Bulldogs will get the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 seed game. First pitch for the Bulldogs first game is tentatively scheduled for 4 PM on Friday, May 5.
