Navarro Falls in Game One of Softball Bi-District Series, Seguin to Play Game One of Their Series Today on KWED

Seguin senior Ryan Rangel

(Geronimo) — The Navarro Lady Panthers fell behind 1-0 in their best-of-three game Class 4A Bi-District round match-up with San Antonio Davenport on Thursday night as the Lady Wolves took game one 9-2 in Geronimo.

Davenport jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Lady Panthers responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame.

Carlie Pitner’s two-out two-RBI single cut the lead to 3-2 as Cadee Zimmer and Kaislynn Tovar came around to score for the Lady Panthers. But that would be all the scoring Navarro would get in the game as Davenport pitcher Jordyn Stuessy would blank the Lady Panthers for the rest of the night. The junior would send down 16 of the last 17 Navarro batters she faced to get the win going the distance.

The Lady Panthers were dealt a blow before the game when they lost 2nd baseman Sarah Falor to illness. Falor was a .500 hitter for Navarro this season. Falor is likely out for the series.

Game two between the Lady Wolves and Lady Panthers will take place Saturday at 1 p.m. at Davenport High School. A game three will follow if necessary.
