Seguin PD gets involved in SHS bullying case


(Seguin) — Seguin Police Investigators continue to look into incidents that occurred at Seguin High School. The police department received a report of an assault that occurred at Seguin High School on April 17, 2023.

School Administration provided the on-duty School Resource Officer with the video of the assault that occurred. The video showed an intellectually disabled student (male, 19, Seguin) being bullied, then struck in the face by another student (male, 16, Seguin) within the high school men’s restroom. The student recording the video can be heard audibly taunting the victim. All students in the video were identified by the School Administration.

Both the juvenile who struck the victim in the face, and the juvenile recording the video (male, 15, Seguin) were transported to Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center.

On April 19, 2023 Seguin Police Department also received a separate report of threats to Seguin High School. School Administration reported that several students had notified staff that a Seguin High School student (male, 15, Seguin) had made statements that he planned on shooting the school.

After further investigation, the juvenile was transported to Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center.

Seguin Police Chief, Jason Brady, stated “a safe environment that is conducive for our children to learn and develop healthy social skills is of paramount importance to the Seguin Police Department. Any violence or threat of violence involving a school will not be tolerated and will be investigated by our officers and detectives. Let there be no mistake, we will file charges when applicable to the very fullest extent of the law regardless of the age of the offender.”
