Seguin, Marion bond projects featured on Saturday Topic

(Seguin) — This weekend’s Saturday Topic program, on AM 1580 KWED, aims to educate voters in both the Seguin and Marion school districts. Both districts have bond elections scheduled for Saturday, May 6.

In the Seguin ISD, voters are being asked to consider approval of a $7.5 million bond package that calls for the construction of a baseball and softball complex at Seguin High School. District officials say the existing facilities are inadequate by today’s standards, and it’s time to upgrade them both. Seguin ISD Superintendent Matthew Gutierrez and Seguin ISD Athletic Director Craig Dailey both join us for a discussion about the bond package and why they think it’s necessary for the future of the Seguin ISD. They’ll also discuss the taxpayer impact, which they say will not require any new taxes.

In the Marion ISD, voters are being asked to consider a $78.8 million package that includes safety and security upgrades on all campuses, career and technical education upgrades, renovations of the high school, and construction of a competition gym with new weight and locker rooms. Marion ISD Superintendent Don Beck will be here to discuss the overall project and why he believes this is a good investment for voters in the Marion ISD.

The Saturday Topic program airs at 8 a.m. Saturday on radio station AM 1580 KWED. You can also listen live online at seguintoday.com.
