(San Antonio) – The Lifegate Christian Lady Falcons are state champions once again.
Lifegate took down San Antonio Trinity 58-35 to capture the Texas Christian Athletic League Class 1A State Championship on Saturday morning at Incarnate Word High School in San Antonio. It was a dominating performance by the Lady Falcons, who jumped out to 34-9 lead at the half and cruised to repeat as state champions in 2023.
Senior Olivia Castillo lead the way for the Lady Falcons as she dropped in 14 points. Sophomore Anelyna Cavazos tallied 12 points for Lifegate. Both players had 9 points at the half to lead the Lady Falcons in their hot start.
Junior Hailee Lipsey dropped in 10 points including two 3 point baskets in the 3rd quarter to help Lifegate maintain their large lead in the 2nd half. Senior Kimbree Wrinkle added seven points while freshman Sophia Mendez netted five points on the stat sheet for the Lady Falcons.
Lifegate reached Saturday’s championship by crushing Corpus Christi Annapolis 61-32 on Friday. Saturday morning’s win was the 20th overall victory for Lifegate in the 2022-23 campaign.
The Lady Falcons, coached by Gabriel Galvan, finished the season with a 20-3 overall record while going unbeaten in nine games during the district season. The 20 wins were one more over their total from their 2021-22 championship season.
