Seguin Education Foundation's Golden Ticket raffle offers trips to major destinations

(Seguin) – You no longer have to imagine a trip to Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Las Vegas or even Tuscany. That’s because you can now make a realistic attempt at visiting one of these travel destinations and all while investing in public education.

Purchasing a Golden Ticket from the Seguin Education Foundation is the community’s opportunity of not only winning a trip but selecting which of the four destinations that they’d like to visit.

The Golden Ticket drawing is one of the featured events being held in conjunction with this year’s 2023 SEF Mardi Gras celebration slated for Thursday night at the Seguin Coliseum.

SEF Executive Director Kelly Follis says only a few of these raffle tickets remain and does not expect many if any to be available on the night of the event.

“We have something called The Golden Ticket and you can buy that online. You do not have to be present to win although it would be a lot more fun if you were and it’s $100 and we will sell 100 tickets and it’s your choice of four trips, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo, Las Vegas, and Tuscany. So, four choices, $100. What do you have to lose?

The raffle tickets can be purchased online now by visiting https://tinyurl.com/SEFgoldenticket.

Like the raffle, an online auction has also opened up giving folks, especially those who will be unable to attend Thursday’s event, the opportunity to support the foundation.  Follis says several great prizes are also up for grabs. She says whether at the Mardi Gras celebration or in the comfort of your home, folks will get to bid on those things from now through the event.

“It will open up for bidding for the silent auction and your phone will tell you if somebody outbids you and it’s a lot of fun to watch what the bids do and get those things going,” said Follis.

Board of Director Debbie Magin says thanks to the online format, placing bids will also be much easier for those who will be in attendance at the event on Thursday.

“You know how silent auctions usually hover around and you’ve got this little group, well now you can sit at the comfort of your table and watch somebody out bid you. Instead of running over there, you can type it,” said Magin.

A link to purchase A Golden Ticket or to participate in the auction is available on both the Seguin Education Foundation and KWED/Seguin Daily News Facebook pages. Tickets to the Thursday night Mardi Gras party are also avaible. Cost is $50 a person. The event will include Cajun food and live music featuring the Dirty River band plus a host of other special games and features.
