(Seguin) – The body of an East Texas man was recovered from his vehicle after it drove off the Interstate 10 bridge and into the Guadalupe River early Thursday morning. The body of Joshua Hernandez, 29, of Overton was discovered at around noon after his red Nissan Rogue vehicle was pulled out of the water.
Seguin Police officials say a 2 a.m. call to 9-1-1 dispatch reported that the vehicle looked to be driving at a high rate of speed and was unable to maintain a single lane of travel.
That’s when they say the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove off the bridge. Both the Seguin Police Department and Seguin Fire Department immediately began a search for the driver and vehicle in the area of the Lake Placid boat ramp located just underneath the I-10 bridge.
After locating the vehicle, officials requested assistance from the New Braunfels Fire Department’s Dive Team to locate the driver of the vehicle.
Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Judge Darrell Hunter. The next of kin have been notified. Investigation into the accident continues.
