SYS hosting big NYE Party

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today
SYS hosting big NYE Party

(Seguin) — Seguin Youth Services is bringing the party to the people this weekend.

SYS Executive Director Sheryl Sachtleben says they are thrilled to once again be able to offer their New Year’s Eve Dance on Saturday night at the Geronimo Community Center. Sachtleben says there will be great music and fun offered that night. The party had been put on hold the last couple of years, but Sachtleben says it’s back, and she expects everyone to have a great time.

“We had our first New Year’s Eve Dance (a few years ago). I’m going to say that it was probably before COVID, and we had a great turn out. Clint Taft did the dance then and we had people coming from all over. It was just a great family-friendly, very close to home kind of opportunity. It’s just a chance to get out. Maybe stay till midnight to cheer in the New Years. Maybe just come out until, you know 8 (o’clock), with the kids, and then take off. But it really, really is a good time,” said Sachtleben.

Sachtleben says folks should come enjoy the party, but they should also come to help support their non-profit organization, which ‘s been working with local kids for decades.

“It’s sponsored by Seguin Youth Services. So you know Seguin Youth Services does own the Geronimo Community Center. Guadalupe Regional Medical Center has sponsored Clint Taft and the music, so the youth center gets to benefit from the ticket sales and the concession sales and the bar. So that’s really helpful as a good fundraiser for us as well. But it’s just a good thing to know that that’s what it goes to. Not only are you going out on New Year’s Eve, but you’re staying close to home. So you can take your kids. Your kids are going to have a good time. You’re going to have a good time. Everything’s going to be right there. But at the end of the day, that $20 you gave me at that door goes right straight to Seguin Youth Services and you can’t beat that,” said Sachtleben.

The tickets are $20 each, and can be purchased via the Venmo app. Sachtleben says some tickets will also be sold at the door. She says there will be plenty of room for everyone to attend.

The SYS New Year’s Eve Dance runs from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday at the Geronimo Community Center, which is located at 280 Navarro Dr.

Geronimo will be the location for another New Year’s Eve dance. The Geronimo VFW is hosting its New Year’s Eve celebration with a dance featuring Jimmie Bolado and The Country Sounds. That party runs  from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the VFW Hall in Geronimo. There will be party favors and blackeyed peas. Tickets are also $20 each.
