Early voting continues this week in run-off election

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today
Early voting continues this week in run-off election

Voters to decide District 8 Seguin City Council race

(Seguin) – The hustle and bustle of Christmas may be over but the hustle and bustle for your vote has just gotten started for local candidates.

Today marks the start of the second week of early voting for the run-off election in Guadalupe County.

Guadalupe County Elections Administrator Lisa Hayes says four races in Guadalupe County will appear on the local ballot. The races are a spin-off following the results of the Tuesday, Nov. 8 election.

Campaigning for the District 8 seat in the city of Seguin are candidates Bill Keller and Eddie Davila.

Both candidates were unable to clinch the required 50 percent of the vote needed to claim the seat outright in the fall.

In the fall, Keller led the race finishing off with 682 of the votes cast while Davila followed with 635 votes. A third candidate Steven Berger topped off the race with only 192 votes.

The other entities in the county having run-off races include the cities of Schertz and Cibolo.

In Cibolo, both Summer Marie Brown and Mark Allen are facing off for mayor.

The position of mayor in Schertz will also be decided this Jan. 3.

Appearing on the ballot are Ralph Gutierrez and Cedric Edwards.

A run-off is also needed to decide the next representative for Schertz City Council Place 2.

Those candidates include Michelle Watson and Tiffany Gibson.

Early voting locations include the Seguin Elections Office and the Schertz Elections Office Annex. Early voting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday, Dec. 30.
