(Seguin) — After combing through the evidence, local community judges have announced the winners of the annual Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office No Shave November Beard and Nails Contest. The annual event is a monthlong or longer endeavor in which participants forgo grooming to raise awareness for cancer.

Each year, employees of the sheriff’s office and jail are given the chance to either grow out their facial hair and up until a couple of years ago sport their fanciest nails while on the job. In exchange, the officers who choose to participate in the seasonal contest and ignore the current policy and procedure of the local sheriff’s office are asked to donate $25 a month. That donation is then later awarded locally to the Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation Cancer Assistance Fund for November and December.

This year’s batch of winners include Investigator Elaine Reamer, Prettiest Nails; Cpl. Mario Soto Best Beard; Inv. Sean Callahan, Ugliest Beard; Sgt. Thomas Jones, Best Goatee Moustache and Robert Gonzales with this year’s Father Time award.

Lining up before judges Wednesday morning were 17 participants each who represented various departments with the sheriff’s office.

Serving as this year’s judges were Community members Paul Green, Angela Campbell, Eddie Miller, and Lois Elley.
