Families reminded to share the message with those who need a little assistance this holiday season.
(Seguin) – Families needing a little assistance from Blue Santa have only two more days in which to let him know. Friday is the deadline for the annual Seguin Police Department Blue Santa Program. The program works to ensure that every child in Seguin and throughout Guadalupe County receive that special gift under the Christmas tree.
To apply, families are invited to print out an application online and/or stop by one of several locations to pick up and drop off their forms. Those locations include any one of the Seguin ISD elementary schools or Seguin ISD administration office; the Navarro and Marion ISD elementary or middle school campuses; the Seguin Housing Authority; the Community Council of South-Central Texas; St. Vincent De Paul in Schertz, at any apartment complex in Seguin and of course at both the Seguin PD and Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office.
Seguin PD officials stress that gifts will not be available for families after this Friday’s deadline. Upon completing their application, families are reminded to provide the following documents. They include a current ID or driver’s license and proof of income or paperwork that shows that they meet eligibility requirements for programs such as Medicaid, Lone Star, housing, disability or CHIP. Families receiving a direct recommendation from a teacher or PD employee will also be eligible.
Each application should also include a working phone number and email address. It’s also important to note that if two families are living together, then only one application. Two sets of proper documents, however, will still be required.
Families will be contacted when gifts are ready for pick up. Applicants can expect to receive a text letting them know when they can stop by the Blue Santa Headquarters for the gifts. The headquarters this year is located at Faith Lutheran Church’s Life Event Center.
