(Seguin) – Seguin’s youngest kids are invited to take part in what the Downtown Business Alliance of Seguin hopes will be a new holiday tradition. The DBA is inviting folks out this Saturday for its first ever Shoe Box Parade in Central Park.
Amber Ehrlich, a member of the downtown organization, says the Shoe Box Parade is being held in conjunction with all the other fun activities found at the annual North Pole Stroll.
“This is our first year for the Shoe Box Parade and it’s going to be in Central Park right after the Jingle Bell Run and it’s open to pre-school through eight years old and you take your mom’s old shoe box and you decorate it like a Christmas float and make sure you add a ribbon or a rope to it and you get to pull it around Central Park for our parade and there are prizes and hopefully, we will have some celebrities for the parade also,” said Ehrlich.
Ehrlich says decorate the Christmas boxes with paper decorations, markers or whatever families want to use. Focus on your imagination as she says the “sky is the limit.” Costumes are also welcome but not required.
The shoe box parade gets underway at 11 a.m. Saturday in Central Park. Line-up begins at 10:45 a.m. The event is free.
