(Seguin) — The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs and first year head coach Neal LaHue will wrap up the season on Saturday as they host the 8th ranked team in Division III football. Hardin-Simmons visits Bulldog Stadium this week. The Cowboys are riding a 6 game winning streak coming into this week’s match-up and are 8-1 overall on the season, 6-1 in the American Southwest Conference. Their only loss was to defending D-III champs Mary Hardin-Baylor.

TLU is 4-5 on the season and 3-4 in the conference. The Bulldogs are still looking for their first win in front of the home crowd and will look to get that win on Senior Day this Saturday. LaHue says he feel his team is improving going into his first full off-season.

“Our kids have kept the fight regardless of our record and I’m proud of that. They’re laying a great groundwork for future teams. We got a late start with recruiting (before this season), so we’re gonna have a whole fall (to recruit before next season). I think we signed a really good class, but we did it late and we’ll have a chance to sign a good class again this year.”

Texas Lutheran is coming off a thrilling 21-17 win over Southwestern this past Saturday up in Georgetown. The Bulldogs got an interception in the end-zone from linebacker James Gipson with just over 2 minutes left in the game and then the offense drove 80 yards and scored on a Jacob Forton one yard run to take their first lead of the game with 14 seconds left. Texas Lutheran tight end Aaron Sotello caught 12 passes in the game for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Sotello was honored as the ASC Offensive Player of the Week and was also named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

TLU will kick off for the last time in the 20-22 season at 1 O’clock Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium on the Texas Lutheran campus. We’ll have all the play by play of TLU and Hardin-Simmons for you here on KWED. We’ll visit more with coach LaHue during our Bulldog pregame show, which starts our coverage at 12:30 p.m. on AM 1580 and streaming at TLUBulldogs.com.
