(Seguin) — It’s time to go nuts with Seguin’s annual Pecan Fest scheduled for Saturday, October 29. The day includes nutty and heritage activities throughout Seguin including downtown, the library, the Big Red Barn, Teatro de Artes de Juan Seguin, and at the Sebastopol House.
In downtown, the fun will begin at 10 a.m. with the Fall Trade Days which will feature over 100 vendors selling home goods, yard décor, jewelry, tasty treats, and lots more. Additionally, there will be some vendors selling pecan products like pecan cakes, furniture from pecan wood, pecan baked goods, pecan jam, pecan coffee, and whole pecans.
In addition to the shopping, there will be music, a beer and wine garden, yard games, and some pecan games like the Get Crackin’ Contest where competitors will see how many pecans, they can shell in two minutes. The Get Crackin’ Contest will be in Central Park at noon. Just show up to participate.
A new addition to the downtown fun is the pecan pie eating contest. Contestants will be able to put their skills to the test by eating as many 4” pecan pies in one minute. The contest will be starting around 2 p.m. in Central Park. Register the day of the event at the information booth in Central Park.
Also in downtown will be free tours of the Magnolia Hotel and Heritage Village and historic home. Check out the antique fire truck at the Heritage Museum. Down at the library, watch as students’ robots compete to crack pecans and other nutty activities.
The Wilson Pottery Foundation will also be sponsoring its 19th annual Wilson Pottery Show on the grounds of the historic Sebastopol House and home of Wilson Pottery Museum. The show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pottery collectors from across Texas will gather to display and sell antique pottery.
