Family Health Fest to be held in GRMC parking lot

(Seguin) – GRMC this Saturday is inviting the community to stop by for its two-hour, totally free Family Health Fest.

Chelsea Maldonado, GRMC director of marketing, says both kids and adults are invited to join Guadalupe Regional Medical Center for a morning filled with fun activities. She says the event will include a wide range of events from health resources to fun games for the kids.

“The whole parking lot is going to blocked off. We are going to have tons of things for the entire family. We are going to have some food trucks including Kona Ice, Whataburger, Cattle Creek Coffee and like I said, it’s totally free to the community so it’s free food and drink for those food trucks for people who show up and we are going to have the Wellness Center is going to be hosting an open house during that time as well but they are also going to be offering a free outdoor Zumba class at 10:30 in the morning. Right after that, we will have a free Tai Chi class and tons of really cool vendors. We are going to have the local EMS. They are going to stop by with a fire truck and ambulance for kids to tour. We are going to have face painting. There is going to be inflatable slides for kids. We are going to have soda booth area, balloon animals just kind of the fun things for kids,” said Maldonado.

Maldonado says for years, GRMC each October, hosted its Mammos and Mimosas event. However, after COVID, GRMC decided that it wanted to venture off into a new direction – a direction that allows them to showcase all that the local hospital has to offer.

“We are also going to have some really great physicians and other vendors here so there’s going to be primary care physicians. TLU is going to be hosting free blood pressure checks for anyone that wants to stop by and get all of that done. We are also going to have a get-well card station and a coloring station so that kids can draw and color some get well cards for our patients that we will pass out after the event. We will have diabetes education on site. We will have some surgeons on site so kind of some fun, interactive things for the entire community is what people can really expect,” said Maldonado.

The free Family Health Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the GRMC East Campus parking lot.
