Two Former Matador Student-Athletes to be Inducted into Seguin Hall of Honor


(Seguin) — Two former Matador student athletes will inducted into the Seguin ISD Athletic Hall of Honor on Friday. Dexter Ransom, a 2007 graduate and 2006 grad Stephanie LaFerrara Thomas will be honored during an on field ceremony at Matador Stadium.

Ransom played for Seguin on the 25-5A District Championship football team in 2006. He was named to the 1st Team All District football team that season. Ransom competed for the Matadors hoops team as well and was also named Mr. Basketball. He attended Blinn College from 2007 thru 2009. During his time at Blinn College, he was named the Pre-Season All-American, #1 Football player and was on the 2009 National Championship team. Dexter went on to complete his college football career at the University of Utah. He was on the 2011 Sun Bowl
Championship team. Dexter is presently starting his teaching career and has plans to coach soon. He is actively involved with coaching his son’s little league football team and training wide receivers. Ransom and his family currently live in Montgomery.

LaFerrara Thomas lettered 4 years on the Seguin Softball team and 2 years on the Basketball team. She was on the Softball All District team throughout her high school career, along with being named “Newcomer of the Year” as a freshman when she was also named to the District 1st Team. The softball teams were district champs during her sophomore, junior and senior years. LaFerrara Thomas played on a softball scholarship for the Islanders of Texas A&M University of Corpus Christi. LaFerrara Thomas and her family reside in New Braunfels

Ransom and LaFerrara Thomas will be inducted into the Seguin ISD Athletic Hall of Honor before Friday night’s Seguin/New Braunfels Canyon football game.
