(Seguin) — The defending Division III national champions come to Seguin this Saturday as the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs host the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders at Bulldog Stadium. UMHB is the 4th ranked team in D-III. The Crusaders are 4-0 in American Southwestern Conference play and 5-1 overall on the season, with their only loss coming on the road in a playoff rematch to 3rd ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater last month.

TLU comes into this weekend’s match-up on a two game winning streak following victories over Austin College last Saturday and North American University two weeks ago. Texas Lutheran head coach Neal LaHue knows the Bulldogs have a massive challenge in front of them this week.

“We have a great challenge but that’s what you play college football for. That’s why we’re in this conference. We’re gonna give it our best shot and I tell our kids you just gotta go out there and play hard. We gotta slow them down. (The Mary Hardin-Baylor) philosophy has all been based on their defense. They’re very good on defense. They get the ball back to their offense. And we got to be able to move the football and get our defense off the field.”

LaHue says the Bulldogs offense will need to take what the Crusader defense gives them. He says the TLU defense has made improvements through the season and they’ll need to continue to play well and limit the big plays against the UMHB offense.

The Bulldogs are 1-2 in the ASC and 2-3 overall. Both of TLU’s victories have come on the road. Saturday’s game at Bulldog Stadium kicks off at 1 pm. We’ll have the game here on KWED starting with the Bulldog pregame show at 12:30 on AM 1580 and streaming at TLUBulldogs.com.
