KWED along with a number of partnering businesses are making sure that everyone gets to enjoy the rodeo during the Guadalupe County Fair’s opening day.

A limited amount of free tickets are now available for pickup for today’s KWED Listener Appreciation Night at the rodeo.

Darren Dunn, KWED and Seguin Daily News general manager, says the radio station is again pleased to team up with the Guadalupe County Fair Association as it opens its gates for this year’s fair and PRCA rodeo.

“Thursday night is Listener Appreciation Night at the Guadalupe County Fair and PRCA Rodeo and it’s time for families to take advantage of these free rodeo tickets. KWED each and every year teams up with the fair association to bring Listener Appreciation Night and this year, it is no different. So, we are really happy that families will be able to save a few bucks while having a great night watching professional cowboys and cowgirls there at the fairgrounds rodeo arena,” said Dunn.

While the rodeo ticket is free, families, on Thursday, will still have to pay the $10 gate admission. However, if you arrive at the fairgrounds before 6 p.m. today, you will get in free and save that $10. Plus, there is no cost for kids 10 and under.

Dunn says there is a limited number of tickets available so you will want to stop by one of the following locations as soon as possible.

“It’s very easy to get your free rodeo tickets. All you have to do is stop by here at KWED or you can go to Yaklin Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Texas Built Mobile homes, D&D Texas Outfitters and Guadalupe Printing Solutions or again, you can come here to KWED. Any of those locations should have the tickets that you need. Just ask for them. You get them. You go to the rodeo on Thursday night. Take your family. It’s guaranteed to be a good time,” said Dunn.

The PRCA Rodeo on Thursday gets underway at 7:30 p.m.

Those not having a KWED Listener Appreciation Night ticket can purchase a ticket online for $20. This total includes both rodeo and gate fee. Tickets at the gate will be $10 for grounds and $20 for rodeo. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at gcfair.org.

Today’s schedule includes the opening of gates at 5 p.m. followed by the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual mixer. This year’s mixer is dubbed “Oktoberfest” and will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the dance pavilion. Youth activities will also be held in the Seguin Coliseum followed by the arrival of pumpkin decorating contest entries from 3 to 7 p.m. The trade fair and expo will be in operation from 5 to 8 p.m. The Pivo & Polka Band will be hosting its Oktoberfest celebration at the Coliseum gazebo from 6 to 9 p.m. It will be followed by the PRCA rodeo at 7:30 p.m. Wrapping up events is tonight’s free dance. The dance will feature music by Der Kleins Steins/Swinging Dutchman from 8:30 p.m. to midnight.

Fair gates will re-open on Friday at 11 a.m. following this year’s Guadalupe County Fair Parade. The parade gets underway at 10 a.m. Friday in downtown Seguin.

Parking each day is $5 a vehicle. Proceeds from parking will go to Relay for Life of Guadalupe and Comal Counties. A free shuttle to the fairgrounds from the Columbus Club of Seguin Hall and the Seguin Wave Pool will only be offered Saturday night. Cost to enter the fair Friday through Sunday is $10 a person. There is no cost for kids 10 and under. Friday is also free up until 7 p.m. for all students and those with a military ID.

Carnival armbands on site will be $30 a person. Carnival times are 5 to 11 p.m. Friday; 1 to 11 p.m. Friday; 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

A complete listing of events and other prices and discount  can be found in the official fair catalog available for pickup at KWED radio or online at gcfair.org.
