(Houston) — The Texas Lutheran football team is still in search of their first win of the 2022 season and they’ll play another team still searching for their first win this weekend. The Bulldogs will travel to Houston on Saturday to take on the North American University Stallions. Both TLU and NAU are winless through three games. The Stallions play out of Division NAIA and have been outscored 199-6 in their 3 losses but TLU head coach Neal LaHue says NAU has played all of their games against higher division opponents so they’re not looking past the Stallions.
“We’re 0-3 as well, so it’s not like we’re gonna overlook them. NAU (is) a new program. Their three losses were to a Division II and two Division I-AA programs. They’ve played good people at those people’s stadiums, so they had to be on the road for the first three weeks.”
The Bulldogs are coming off a 28-14 homecoming loss this past Saturday to the Sul Ross State Lobos. The game was tied at 14 in the 4th quarter until the Lobos scored a pair of big play touchdowns to pull away from the Bulldogs.
LaHue says the Bulldog offense will need to avoid turnovers this week and get better at converting 3rd downs. He says the defense will have to prevent the big plays and do a better job tackling if they want to get their first win of the year.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 7 pm from Stafford High School in Houston here on KWED. We’ll talk more with coach Neil LaHue during the Bulldog pre-game show which starts at 6:30 on AM 1580 KWED and streaming online at TLUBulldogs.com.
