Founder of life affirming non-profit plus international public speaker to serve as special guest
(Seguin) — An Emmy Award-winning creative professional and international public speaker who has received extensive media coverage on his many messages comes to the podium this Thursday during the South Texas Pregnancy Care Center’s 22nd Annual Fundraising Banquet at the Seguin Coliseum.
Executive Director Janice Weaver says the non-profit organization is excited about hearing from Ryan Bomberger, who also is a columnist and author of the book “Not Equal: Civil Rights Gone Wrong.”
When it comes to every human life having a purpose, Weaver says Bomberger hopes to share his rather unique perspective.
“Ryan Bomberger has spoken on many national news outlets. He has been a keynote speaker for the March for Life in Washington, D.C. He has formed with his wife a non-profit called The Radiance Foundation. They are reaching out and trying to spread the truth about many issues that are considered sensitive. They talk about adoption. Ryan himself was adopted. He had a very traumatic beginning. He is the product of a rape and that is the one time that people say ‘oh, abortion would be okay in the case of rape or incest and his mother choice life for him and then placed him in an adoption situation. He was adopted by a family that adopted 13 children and a multi-racial family with all kinds of special needs and he himself has adopted two children and he and his wife have formed this Radiance Foundation. They speak all over the country and internationally on the issues that are facing us in today’s world,” said Weaver.

Banquet, continued.
Weaver says the Radiance Foundation was founded to extensively research and creatively present challenging social issues: abortions, adoption, fatherlessness, poverty, racism, free speech, and religious liberty. It’s first public ad campaign launch was to address the hugely disproportionate impact of abortion in the black community – TooManyAborted.com.
Weaver says in addition to the March of Life in the nation’s capital, Bomberger has keynoted at other renown locations and events including the UN, Harvard, Princeton, at Capitol Hill briefings plus hundreds more.
“Our job is to help women and there are many many lives — many false rhetoric — things out there and so we are going to address some of those at the banquet and really give you both sides of the argument. You know when people are talking about a woman’s right to choose and things like that, the only choice they are offering is the choice of abortion and there are more choices. One of the things that our speaker says is ‘there is no such thing as an unwanted child. There is someone who is wanting to adopt or wanting to take in a child to love. They are just waiting for that person to love them.’ So, if you have some indecision about where you stand on the abortion issue or the pro-life issue, I challenge you to come because you are going to see both sides of that issue at our banquet,” said Weaver.
Weaver says the hosting of this year’s banquet might just be more important than ever. She says with the issue of abortion continuing to make national headlines, the local non-profit is shifting much of that attention locally to echoing its purpose.
“Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we have had people who have said ‘well, is there even a need for a pregnancy center anymore? That’s been a big question that is out there and the answer is yes! said Weaver. “Actually our numbers have increased. We have been seeing more and more clients over the past few months since the decision was passed down.”
Weaver says for several years, the pregnancy care center has been located at 975 W. Court St. She says money raised this week at the banquet will go toward serving even more women and families with the construction of a new home.
“We are hoping to have a large group. A part of our goal is to raise money. We are trying to build a new building. We have purchased land. We have our permits. They have gotten through the city’s permitting process. We’ve gotten a permit from TxDOT because the land we bought is on Kingsbury Street. It’s right next to the Department of Transportation, close to the intersection of 123 Bypass and Kingsbury. Well, that is a state highway. So, we have to have permission from TxDOT to go ahead and build our driveway and expand that so we have done all of those things already and we are just working on raising the funds so we can get started. We need to build a bigger center because there is so many ways that we want to serve our community and we are out of space where we are,” said Weaver.
The banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday. There are no tickets to purchase to attend the banquet. However, Weaver says guests at the banquet will be encouraged to bring their wallets in hopes of raising the necessary funds for the center’s future. Limited seating is available and so she says reservations are being requested as soon as possible. to reserve a seat, call 830-303-2151.
