(Seguin) — The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs return home this Saturday looking for their first win of the season. It’s Homecoming Week for TLU as they host the Sul Ross State Lobos at Bulldog Stadium. TLU fell to 0-2 on the season after a 52-14 loss this past Saturday in a non-conference game at 7th ranked Trinity. Sul Ross State comes into this Saturday’s game 1-0 in American Southwest Conference play following a 55-14 win over Austin College at home last Saturday. Bulldog head coach Neal LaHue says the TLU defense will have to put pressure on the Lobos’ Air Raid offense and they’ll need to get back to running the ball better on offense.
“They’re gonna try and throw it. They’re an air-raid type offense. They’ve got some very good receivers. They got a big 6’4″ kid on the outside who can go up and get it. We’ve got to be able to contain him. (…) The big key on defense will be pressure on the quarterback. He’s got a nice arm, but we’ve got to be able to keep him in the pocket. On offense, we just gotta get back on track. We ran it in the first game real well and we gotta get back to that formula.”
The Bulldogs will also look to improve on special teams this weekend after giving up kickoff and punt returns for TD’s against Trinty along with allowing punt and field goal blocks. Saturday’s ASC match-up kicks off at 6pm at the Bulldog Stadium on the Texas Lutheran campus. We’ll talk more with Coach LaHue during our Bulldog pregame prior to the Homecoming kickoff at 5:40 Saturday afternoon on KWED and TLUBulldogs.com.
***Programming Note*** KWED will air the TLU football game up until 7:10 Saturday evening. We will then join coverage of the Seguin vs. MacArthur football game. Coverage of TLU will continue on TLUBulldogs.com.
