Murder suspect finally behind bars

(Seguin) – After two months on the run, the Seguin Police Department has finally apprehended murder suspect, Norman “Trey” Powell, 38, of Seguin.

Powell was arrested just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Melrose Street.

Powell was transported to Guadalupe County Jail and remains behind bars in lieu of a $500,000 bond.

Authorities say on July 2, 2022, just after 6:50 p.m., the Seguin Police Department responded to a residence in the 100 block of Benbo Street for shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers located Gregory Roundtree, 50, of Pflugerville. Roundtree had suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital in San Antonio where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Witnesses stated the victim and Powell got into a verbal argument, which quickly escalated.

The Seguin Police Department says it would like to thank the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force for its assistance in this investigation.
