(Seguin) – A reward of up to $5000 could be yours for information that leads authorities to the arrest of a local murder suspect.
Sarah Wallace, community engagement officer with the Seguin Police Department, says authorities were excited to learn about the reward offer after weeks of searching for Norman “Trey” Powell, 38, of Seguin.
“If you know anything on the whereabouts of Norman Powell or if you have any information, if you see him, anything that would help lead us to Powell’s arrest, you are eligible to receive up to $5,000 and you will have to make the tip through the Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers which is 1-800-403-TIPS,” said Wallace.
Powell is wanted for the July shooting death of Gregory Roundtree, 50, of Pflugerville. Officers say Roundtree was shot outside a home in the 100 block of Benbo Street. Roundtree, was transported to a San Antonio hospital where he later died. Witnesses at the scene claim that the two men got into a verbal argument when Powell shot Roundtree in the neck area with a .22 caliber weapon.
Wallace says the manhunt for Powell has been underway since July 2. She says the police department is relying on any and all help from the community.
“We just got a tip last week that he was in the Seguin area and there was a sighting. The store had just kind of called us so late, so he wasn’t in the area when they finally did call us. So, we do believe that he may be in the Seguin area or may be in and out of the Seguin area so if just anyone knows any information about him, they can either call us directly or for the reward, they can call the Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers,” said Wallace.
Crime Stoppers note that all calls regarding crimes are received through a Tip Soft call service so the call center is not local. No information about the person giving the tip is taken or collected in any way. After giving your tip, you will be provided with your own unique ID number that you will use when checking the status of you tip or picking up reward.
