School board filing officially opens for both Seguin, Navarro ISD


(Seguin) – A total of nine positions are up for grabs this fall on both the Seguin and Navarro ISD Board of Trustees. Four of those seats will appear on the Seguin ISD ballot. The available seats include voting districts 2, 4, 5 and 7. Currently serving those positions are Trustees Alejandro Guerra, District 2; Linda Duncan District 4; Denise Crettenden District 5 and Glenda Moreno District 7. Each office is for a four-year term.

Residents of these voting districts who are interested in becoming a board candidate must pick up an application packet at the Seguin ISD Central Office located at 1221 E. Kingsbury between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays (except for July 29).

Five spots on the Navarro ISD Board of Trustees will also be available this fall. Hank Dietert; Donna Gilliam; Tracy Large, Melissa Sartain and Brian Sheffler. The at-large positions will also be for a four-year term. Applicationare now available and can be picked up and filed at the Navarro ISD Central Office located at 6450 N. State Highway 123. They may also be emailed to monica.wahl@nisd or via fax at 830-372-1853.

Completed packets must be returned to both school districts no later than Monday, Aug. 22 at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, district officials in the Seguin ISD are promoting individuals to register to vote in Guadalupe County and are sharing the three step process in making sure voices are heard.
Pick up a voter registration application at either one of the Elections Office locations and return it at least 30 days before the election date. Applications can be picked up at 215 S. Milam St., Seguin and 1101 Elbel Rd. in Schertz.

Completed and signed applications may be turned in at either office or mailed to P.O. Box 1346, Seguin, Texas 78156.

Applications are also available by visiting the Texas Secretary of State’s website and completing the online application at https://webservices.sos.state.tx.us/vrapp/index.asp. The completed application must be printed, signed and mailed.

The Elections Office will mail an application to you upon request. Call 830-303-6363.

Voter registration will become effective 30 days after it is received. They also stress that if you move to another county, you must re-register in the county of your new residence. If you lose your certificate, you may contact the elections office at 830-303-6363 to request a new one.
