Seguin ISD to also spend the day during a pair of Safety Task Force gatherings
(Seguin) – The annual evaluation and contract for Seguin ISD’s top administrator are up for discussion and possible action during tonight’s special meeting. The board of trustees is slated to meet behind closed doors to discuss the job performance of Seguin ISD Superintendent Dr. Matthew Gutierrez.
Dr. Gutierrez this spring was recognized for his five years of service to the school district. Although discussion will be behind doors, action, if any, will be taken before the public in open session.
Prior to meeting for his evaluation, district officials including many of the board of trustees will already have had a busy day with the initial startup of the Seguin ISD Safety Task Force.
A pair of meetings will be held today with those members of the community who have responded to the district’s request for assistance in coming up with future and improved safety protocols for all local campuses.
The task force is described as a preventative response to last month’s Uvalde shooting in which 19 students and two teachers were gunned down by a man who made entry into Robb Elementary School.
Although there are safety protocols currently in place, the district wanted to ensure the best available protection possible given what we all now know.
Invitations to the noon and 5:15 p.m. meetings were provided to those members of the community who were willing to be a part of the committee. During this process, the district also looks forward to involving all community members with a future survey.
Today’s task forces meetings will be held in the Seguin High School Performing Arts Center whiles tonight’s special board meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m. in the Seguin ISD Board Room located in Oak Park Mall.
