(Seguin) – There is a new Chief Technology Officer in the Seguin ISD. Stephen Gonzalez takes over the position.
Gonzalez was promoted to the role by Superintendent Dr. Matthew Gutierrez on the heels of Bill Lewis announcing his retirement.
“Stephen has effectively served as our director of digital learning for the past two years. Prior to that, he did excellent work as our director of career and technology education (CTE) for three years. Before joining Seguin ISD five years ago, he was the CTE department chair, teacher and coach at Wimberley ISD. I look forward to Stephen transitioning into his new role over the next several weeks,” said Gutierrez.
The promotion is a bittersweet one for the Seguin ISD as it also says goodbye to Lewis who has served as the chief operating officer/associate superintendent for the district. A 15-year Seguin ISD employee, Gutierrez says he has tendered his intent to retire effective Aug. 31.
“I appreciate Bill’s exemplary service to the students, staff, and community of Seguin ISD. I have had the pleasure of working closely with him for the past five years and we are a better district thanks to his dedication and work ethic. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” said Gutierrez.
District officials say Lewis intends to remain full-time through the end of June and will continue to support bond planning efforts through the end of August.
