Tickets still available for tonight’s raffle, Sea Island fundraiser
(Seguin) – Feeling lucky? The annual $20,000 Rotary Club of Seguin Raffle and Fish and Shrimp Dinner returns tonight at the Seguin Coliseum. President-Elect Elizabeth Engelhardt says tickets are still available for the chance to take home one of the many money prizes including the grand prize of $10,000.
“The meal tickets are $20. They get you into the door and then the raffle tickets are $100 a piece and those enter you into the $20,000 raffle and we have a $10,000 grand prize and then a $3,000, a $2,000, a $1,000 prize, six $500 and five $200 prizes – all on VISA gift cards that we will be giving away at the event,” said Engelhardt.
Engelhardt says trying to reach as many people as possible has been important especially since the civic organization has been unable to host the annual raffle since the fall of 2019. She says like most organizations these last few years, the group has endured the strain of not being able to raise those funds for the many charities and projects that it supports.
“It means a lot because obviously with COVID, it wreaked havoc on the world but especially this fundraiser all of the proceeds go towards grants for our local non-profit organization as well as high school scholarships and so without being able to have the fundraiser, it really weakened what we have been able to donate to the community,” said Engelhardt.
On top of its raffle, Engelhardt says there will be plenty of other ways for people to take home a prize and support the Rotary Club.
“In addition to the raffle, we have deck of cards raffles, we have a whiskey wagon, a wine wagon, a silent auction and a live auction and actually, the silent auction although is online so all of the bidding at the event will be done via your cellphone and then you don’t have to be in person to bid on those items. They are also available on our website, Seguinrotary.org and bidding opened up last week and you can preview and see all of the items that are in the silent auction. However, the other raffles, the decks of card raffles, the whiskey and win wagon and live auction are all in person,” said Engelhardt.
She says the meal alone is worth the trip out to tonight’s fundraiser.
“This is catered by Sea Island. It’s a fish and shrimp dinner. It comes with green beans and a couple of other sides, an (appetizer) and then drinks available as well. So, $20 gets you into the door. There will be a door prize too for the meal tickets and so the meal is something that has always kind of been sought after because Sea Island is all around San Antonio. There is one in New Braunfels, but you don’t really get that opportunity here to enjoy that. So, they do a really great job. They have catered for us the last few events and we are excited to have them back,” said Engelhardt.

Tickets can be purchased online until 8 p.m. The event and the serving of the meal begins today at 6 p.m. at the Coliseum.
