(Marion) – A total of 122 graduates will be walking across the stage during this Saturday’s commencement exercises at Marion High School’s Veterans Stadium.

High School Principal Stacia Snyder says she is excited about presenting this year’s group of seniors for graduation. She says she is proud of all of their accomplishments as they enter into the next stages of their life whether it be college, career or military.

“This class is well; I think it’s a couple of things. I think that they have really shown some perseverance. This is the first class that has made it through COVID sort of speak and then still in high school coming out on the other side and trying to navigate COVID and then figure out how do we now get back to high school in a quote, unquote normal type situation. They’ve done really a lot of work. The other thing I would say as an accolade for them is we had a record setting group of kids in our Honors Night ceremony. We had the record setting from the perspective of grades, but we also had a significant amount of more kids who got industry-based certificates and we are just really proud of what they have accomplished as far as setting themselves up to be ready for the next stages of their life,” said Snyder.

Snyder says she is especially proud of this year’s 2022 Valedictorian and Salutatorian.

“Our Valedictorian is Stacy Hartmann and Stacey has been involved in a couple of events throughout high school. She does band. She does FFA. I believe she was an officer with the National Honor Society. So, she is just a well-rounded individual. She’s funny because she is not quite sure what she wants to do with career in the future, but she’s got her major set, but her comments are ‘there’s too many options in life just to pick one so I’m going to figure it out as I go.’ So, it’s really her attitude and her drive are pretty impressive and same with our salutatorian. Her name is Morgan Moltz and she’s trying to pursue a career in wildlife management and conservation. She’s done some athletics in the past. She does the dual credit, so she has some college credits already under her belt,” said Synder.

The Marion graduation ceremony will get underway at 8 p.m. Saturday at the high school football stadium. A link to access a live stream of the ceremony will be made available on the district’s Facebook page.
