(Seguin) – It’s back to the polls for Guadalupe County voters. Today marks the start of early voting for the Primary Runoff Election.
Lisa Hayes, the Guadalupe County elections administrator, says Tuesday, May 24th will feature both a Republican Runoff Election and a Democratic Runoff Election. The runoff will secure the Republican and Democratic nominations from the March 1 Joint Primary Election.
“As with the Primary Election, Primary Runoff election ballots are by Party. Voters will receive either a Democratic Runoff Ballot or a Republican Runoff Ballot. For voters who voted in the Primary Election, they will receive a Primary Runoff ballot for the same party in which they voted in the Primary. For voters who did not vote in the Primary Election, they will need to select a Party on whose ballot they wish to vote in the Runoff when they check in to vote,” said Hayes.
One locally featured race appears on the Republication ballot.
That race includes the Republication nomination for Guadalupe County Commissioner Pct. 4. Candidates Joel Hicks and Stephen Germann were unable to garner the 50 percent plus votes needed to secure the nomination — sending them on to appear on next week’s runoff ballot. Both, however, were able to unseat Incumbent Judy Cope who has held the position for 20 years.
Hayes says early voting begins today and runs through Friday, May 20. She says early voting hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each of the five days of early voting.
“The early voting locations for Guadalupe County are the Elections Office – 215 S. Milam St. Seguin; Elections Office, Schertz Annex – 1101 Elbel, Schertz; Cibolo Fire Station #2 – 3864 Cibolo Valley Dr., Cibolo; Central Texas Technology Center – 2189 FM 758, Bldg. A, Rm 118, New Braunfels; Redemptive Grace Ministries – 2240 FM 725, New Braunfels and New Berlin City Hall – 9180 FM 775, New Berlin,” said Hayes.
Sample ballots are available on the Guadalupe County Elections Office website, as well as in both the Seguin and Schertz Elections Offices. A map of the early voting locations can also be found on the website.
