(Seguin) — Recruiting and retaining businesses plus ensuring a viable workforce in Guadalupe County is not going unnoticed this week.
The county this week is celebrating Economic Development Week May 9-15.
The EDC’s from Seguin, Schertz, Cibolo and New Braunfels were all recognized during Tuesday’s meeting of the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court for their part in facilitating business growth and supporting workforce development.
Court officials recognized these four staffs and their continued success in enhancing the community’s growth and all while providing a stable tax base.
Representing the Seguin EDC was Assistant Director Lindsay Dennis. Dennis returned the recognition to the court for its promotion of economic development through approving leveraging incentive tools such as the construction of infrastructure, tax abatements, rebates, grants, and loans.
“I just want to say thank you for the continued support. We’ve had a great relationship with you guys and having your support on economic development has been absolutely wonderful so thank you for your continued support,” said Dennis.
Also thanking the court for the recognition was Adrian Perez, the director of the Schertz EDC.
Perez says recruiting businesses to the community continues to be a team effort.
“Thank you so much for supporting these economic development policies that help us go out and recruit new jobs and investment to the region. I also want to take a moment to thank the Seguin team with the amazing things that they are doing. They are really working on helping fill that pipeline for manufacturers across the region making this area very competitive. Right now, it’s all about workforce development and having the people to do the jobs to keep our communities growing and our communities healthy so I’d like to take a moment to do that as well,” said Perez.
Commissioners recognized the week by signing a proclamation in observance of Economic Development Week in Guadalupe County May 9-13.
Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen has also proclaimed May 9-13 as Economic Development Week in the city of Seguin. The Seguin Economic Development Corporation and its staff is commended for their hard work and dedication in promoting economic development projects and sustaining economic development activities within Seguin.
