Doris Lee Wilson Ball

Doris Lee Wilson Ball was born in Guadalupe County on 18 August 1928 and was the third child born to Hurley and Naomi Wilson.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Capote Baptist Church, Seguin Texas and later joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church and was a lifelong member.
She was united in marriage to Benny Ball on April 1, 1944 (62 years) and to this union four children were born.
She loved the Lord and Family and was very active in the church until her health failed. She was a member of the Senior Choir, Sunday School Teacher. Youth Director, Mission Dept., and Deaconess. She loved planning and coordinating visits to nursing homes.
Doris was very active in the Guadalupe District Association and was an area Missionary for many years.
She found great joy in being part of the Seguin community and was a member of the Heroines of Jericho of Seguin.
She was a member of the Gernanium Garden Club, PTA, band booster club and people looked forward to enjoying her sweet potato pies.
Doris was a licensed beautician and graduate of Hick’s Beauty School. She was a seamstress at United Cotton Goods until their closing. She worked in home health care for many years and known for her compassion and caring spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benny W. Ball, her parents, Hurley and Naomi Wilson, grandson James “JJ” Jones, God-daughter Karen Johnson, sisters Mae Etta Jones, Gracie Lee Johnson, Rosie Dora Fritzgerald, brothers Hurley Wilson Jr. Joe Glenn Wilson, Howard Leslie Wilson, James Otis Wilson, Fred Douglas Wilson.
She leaves to cherish; son Rev. Norris Melvin Ball of Seguin; daughters Cleo Bennie Graves of Houston, Gloria Richardson (James) of Seguin; son Kenneth Kelly (Terry) of Seguin; Godson Michael Johnson, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and five brothers Faris, Curtis, Albert, Sherman and Larry Wilson. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
