Six area athletes advance through regional events, qualify for UIL state track & field meet

J'Dohn-Cannon High, Nayla Harris, Kyra Nunez, Leah Brown, and Daisha Shular will represent Seguin in a total of three events at the UIL State Track and Field Meet.



(San Antonio, Kingsville) – Seguin’s Nayla Harris, Kyra Nunez, Leah Brown, Daisha Shular, and J’Dohn Cannon-High, along with Navarro’s Skyler Blevins, will represent their respective schools at the UIL state track and field meet after qualifying at the regional level this past weekend.

Harris won the 5A Region IV gold medal in the girls 100 meter dash with a time of 12.18 seconds at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio.

Harris teamed up with Nunez, Brown, and Shular to finish second in the 4×200 relay with a time of 1:41.58.

Cannon-High qualified for state in the boys long jump with a silver medal mark and personal record of 22′-11.5″.

Blevins claimed the silver medal in the girls triple jump for Navarro at the 4A Region IV meet with a mark of 36′-3.5″ on the Texas A&M-Kingsville campus.
