(Seguin) – Texas Lutheran pitcher, Ashlyn Strother was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Pitcher of the Week for the fifth time this season, the conference announced Monday.
Strother capped off a dominant regular season in the circle, tossing two complete game shutouts to collect two victories over Trinity to help the Bulldogs finish off a perfect SCAC record and secure the top-seed going into the conference tournament.
She finished the week with seven strikeouts in 10 innings of work, allowing just four hits and posting a 0.00 ERA.
In Game One Friday, Strother went the distance, striking out five and allowing one run on two hits. Strother dominated the Tigers – pitching a perfect game for 4.2 innings before allowing a hit with two outs and two strikes in the fifth.
In the series finale Saturday, she held the Tigers hitless through 3.1 innings, before finishing with a line of no runs, two hits, no walks, and two strikeouts. It was Strother’s seventh complete game shutout of the season.
Strother is now 18-0 on the season – placing her in the top ten nationally in wins. She has pitched a team-leading 110 innings and has a SCAC leading 0.70 ERA – also placing her in the top ten in the country as of this writing. She has 156 strikeouts on the year – leading the SCAC and placing in the top 15 nationally – and has held her opponents to a .144 batting average.
Texas Lutheran begins postseason play this weekend as they return to Irving, Texas, for the SCAC Championship Softball Tournament at UD Softball Field April 29-May 1.
