Marion softball cruises past Luling in seeding tiebreak game

(Marion) – Marion softball secured the No. 2 playoff seed in District 26-3A with a 16-2 home win over Luling in five innings on Monday.

The Bulldogs, Luling, and Stockdale all tied for second place in the district standings. Luling defeated Stockdale in Monday’s early game to set up the matchup with Marion.

The Bulldogs (11-20-1) will face District 25-3A qualifier Comfort (17-6) in the bi-district playoffs. The format, times, and locations had yet to be finalized at press time.

Jaslyne Williams pitched a three-hitter to earn the win in the circle. She allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits in five innings.

Alyssa Robles went 2-4 with a double and four RBIs to fuel Marion at the plate. Carlie Alvarado doubled, drove in three runs, and scored twice.

Alexa Ortiz, Hannah Halter, and Juliana Loyola each drove in a run. Loyola scored twice. Williams and Kristina Miles recorded a base hit and crossed the plate twice.
