Jerry Bond

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today
Jerry Bond

Jerry Bond passed away at his home in Seguin, Texas on April 19, 2022. He was born on March 17, 1951. He called Seguin, Texas home for the last 17 years of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie L. Bond and Thelma S. Bond, brother Charles Bond and beloved pets Partner, Lobo, Shotgun and Pepper.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Judy; daughters, Sheila Leavines, Jessica Pickett, Janna Bond; stepdaughter, Daphne McCann; son-in-law, Jeff Pickett; grandchildren, Lauren Day, Ryan Pickett; and great-grandchildren, Greyson and Ryleigh Day.

In 1969, Jerry completed high school in Beeville, Texas. After graduating, he sought work in the bustling oil fields in South Texas. After working for a number of years in the oilfield, he went into construction, beginning with metal buildings. He learned the construction trade, eventually becoming the owner of his own company for over 10 years. He retired briefly but quit retirement to return to the fast-paced world of construction. For the last 9 years, he worked as a Construction Superintendent. Jerry enjoyed the challenges of working through bad weather, slow logistics, personnel shortages and the pandemic. He never complained. His work ethic was extraordinary.
He made time for family and enjoyed grilling at family gatherings. His ribeye’s were mouth-watering masterpieces. He also made time for his other passion, bird hunting. He and his beloved brother, Charles, traveled to South Texas extensively throughout bird hunting season always looking for the right spot. His laughter was infectious. His smile was warm. His heart was loving and gracious.

He will be missed. He will always be remembered.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Tres Hewell Mortuary at 9 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ray Perales officiating.
