Pair of suspects arrested in murder investigation

(Seguin) — The Seguin Police Department has apprehended two of the suspects involved in the shooting that occurred Monday in Seguin’s Park West located at the corner of San Antonio Avenue and North Vaughan Avenue.

The Seguin PD’s Criminal Investigation Division was able to identify and take into custody Sahra Vega, 21, and Christanio Soto, 21, of Seguin as occupants in the vehicle used in the shooting that injured an 18 year old male from Seguin and fatally wounded 18-year-old Maekalyn Ann Marie Smith of Seguin.

Officials says on Wednesday, an arrest warrant was obtained for Vega and Soto for one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one count of Murder. That warrant which was issued by Guadalupe County Justice of the Peace Darrell Hunter, who set bonds totaling $1 million.

Both Vega and Soto were taken into custody at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop.

Meanwhile, the hunt is still on for a third suspect who has been identified as the shooter.

The Seguin Police Department is working with multiple law enforcement agencies in the search for Draven Rene Reyes, 20, of Seguin. Reyes has an active arrest warrant for Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Following initial investigation, detectives learned that Reyes and the other individuals drove by the park.

That’s when Reyes allegedly fired multiple rounds at the couple. Both were struck as they sat near the basketball court at Park West.

Reyes is considered to be armed and dangerous. A reward of up to $5,000 is also being offered by Crime Stoppers for information leading to Reyes’ arrest.

Seguin PD officials say this remains an active, ongoing investigation with more arrests anticipated. Anyone with information on the location of Draven Rene Reyes is encouraged to call the Seguin Police Department at 911 or (830) -379-2123.

Callers can also contact the Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers hotline at 877-403-8477 (TIPS).
