(Seguin) – Texas Lutheran’s 2022 football schedule, featuring five home games – including a home matchup against defending Division-III national champion Mary Hardin-Baylor – was announced on Tuesday by first-year head football coach Neal LaHue.
The Bulldogs will play all ten football games in the state of Texas and close the regular season in Seguin against the Cowboys of Hardin-Simmons.
The season opens Labor Day weekend with Texas Lutheran hosting Howard Payne on Sept. 3. After an open date on Sept. 10, TLU then makes a trip to San Antonio to take on rival Trinity on Sept. 17 under the lights at Multi-Sport Stadium. Texas Lutheran will host homecoming festivities on Sept. 24 as they welcome the Lobos of Sul Ross State for a Saturday night showdown.
Wrapping up the non-conference slate, Texas Lutheran will travel to Houston to face NAIA opponent North American University on Oct 1. This marks the first ever matchup between the two programs.
American Southwest Conference play continues on Oct. 8 in Sherman, Texas, as the Bulldogs take on Austin College at Jerry Apple Stadium, then the defending national champions, Mary Hardin-Baylor, come to Bulldog Stadium on Oct. 15.
Texas Lutheran will then head to Abilene for a matchup with the Warhawks of McMurry University on Oct. 22. The Bulldogs return home on Oct. 29 to host East Texas Baptist before embarking on a trip to Georgetown to face the Southwestern University Pirates (Nov. 5).
Texas Lutheran’s regular season and home finale will take place on Nov. 12 as they host Hardin-Simmons. This will also be Senior Day as the Bulldogs will honor their graduating senior class.
Barring any changes, the Homecoming game against Sul Ross state and the road game at Trinity are the only 6 p.m. kickoffs, with the other eight dates slated for a 1 p.m. start.
