Seguin ISD facilities including future baseball, softball complex appearing on tonight's agenda

(Seguin) – Plans for a possible and future Matador Baseball and Softball Complex are back up on the table tonight for what appears to be a closer look at its potential design.

Before making an official decision on whether to pursue building a complex on the Seguin High School campus, the school district late last year committed to funding the architectural designs for the project. Those renderings will be shared tonight by architects from Pfluger and pbGroup.

The design concepts submitted for the complex will show the shared amenities for both a baseball and softball field. If the district chooses to move forward with pursuing the project, the complex will be built at the softball field’s current site located on East College Street. Currently, the Matador Softball program plays at its field on campus while the Matador Baseball team plays at the Seguin Parks and Recreation Smokey Joe Field at the Seguin Events Complex.

In addition to the baseball/softball complex, the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees tonight will also receive an update on its 2019 bond project.

The current project still underway is the full renovation of the A.J. Briesemeister Middle School campus.

District officials are expected to update the progress of that project as well as go through a series of punch list items that remain and that have been tackled. A good portion of the renovation is slated to be ready by this summer.  At last note, their target date for the entire project is still the summer of 2023.

The meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m. today in the Seguin ISD Administrative Offices.
