(Corpus Christi) – Seguin High School’s Shaylin Franklin took second place in the 259 weight class of the 5A division in the THSWPA state powerlifting meet on Saturday, while teammate Sierra Leos finished third in the 259-plus class.
Franklin lifted a total of 1,030 lbs with a 415 squat, 215 bench press, and 400 dead lift.
Leos lifted a total of 870 lbs with a 345 squat, 170 bench, and 350 dead lift.
Navarro’s Sarah Howard took third place in the 148 class of the 4A small school division on Friday, Alondra Hernandez finished fourth in the 259 class, and Hailey Garner took fifth place in the 198 class.
Howard lifted 905 lbs with a 370 squat, 205 bench press, and 330 dead lift.
Hernandez totaled 920 llbs with 405 in the squat, 225 on the bench, and 290 in the dead lift.
Garner lifted a total of 905 lbs with a 380 squat, 220 bench, and 305 dead lift.
Marion’s Jackie Fly finished fourth in the 220 class of the 3A big school division on Thursday.
Fly lifted a total of 955 lbs with 400 in the squat, 205 on the bench, and 350 in the dead lift.
