Fire destroys local home

Fire destroys local home

(Seguin) – Despite all efforts, area fire fighters were unsuccessful in saving a local home. That’s according to Patrick Pinder, the Guadalupe County emergency management coordinator and fire marshal.

Pinder says fire crews were called out to the home late Monday afternoon.

“Around 5:15 p.m., multiple fire departments responded to the 200 block of Meadow Lake Drive close to the intersection of Wildflower Lane for reports of a structure fire. Upon Seguin Fire Department’s arrival, they observed a single wide mobile home fully involved. Seguin Fire Department along with Geronimo Fire Department, Sand Hills Fire Department and also the Lake Dunlap Volunteer Fire Departments all worked to contain the fire to the mobile home so that it didn’t spread to adjacent properties. Unfortunately, the house was a total loss and it was a complete burn. The Red Cross assistance was called in for the residents of the home. The home was occupied by three folks, a grandson, a father and then a grandmother so it’s kind of an unfortunate event that we had here but luckily, all three occupants were able to get out.

At the time of the fire, there was only the young man who is 16 years old at the home at the time,” said Pinder.

Pinder says the fire currently remains under investigation.

“We are continuing to speak and interview the property owner and the young man that was at home at the time of the fire. The fire does not appear to be suspicious. It looks like the fire started in the kitchen area of the home and so we are investigating to see if we can determine the origin of the cause,” said Pinder.

Pinder says the two adults were not at home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported during the incident.
