(Laredo) – Seguin High School senior Nayla Harris was the high point earner among all femal track and field athletics who competed in the 89th annaul Border Olympics at the United ISD Student Activity Center in Laredo last Friday and Saturday.

Harris, who will compete for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley next year, earned a total of 39 points with top-three finishes in five events and gold medals in three events over the course of the two-day meet in Laredo.

She won the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.33 seconds and the long jump with a personal record of 18′ 7-1/4″.

Harris was also part of the first place 4×100 relay team, along with Kyra Nunez, Ashley Lingueno, and Daisha Shular. They ran a personal best time of 48.28 seconds.

Harris finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.19 seconds, and took third in the triple jump with a mark of 36′ 7-1/2″.

The Seguin girls team finished fourth among 17 competing teams with a total of 78 points.
