(Seguin) – Guadalupe County’s District Clerk has earned herself another term in office.

District Clerk Linda Balk defeated challenger Shelly Saldivari-Sposari for the Republican nomination in the county wide race. There is no Democratic challenger in November essentially naming Balk to another four years in office.

During Tuesday’s Republican Primary Election, Balk earned 9,193 of the votes cast or 70 percent while Sposari trailed with 3,944 votes or 30 percent.

Balk says she was overwhelmed by the voter support and the large lead that she held throughout the night.

“It is very overwhelming with the support that I have received. I would like to thank the community for allowing me to serve the next four years. I thank God, family, friends and all my supporters for allowing me to give four more years. We look forward to serving in the next four years,” said Balk.

Balk, again, does not face a challenger in November. This new term will add to Balk’s already 20 year plus total of serving in the District Clerk’s office for Guadalupe County.  Sposari was unavailable for comment following Tuesday night’s results.
