Matadors run rule Lobos for second straight district win
(Seguin) – Seguin is off to a 2-0 start in the District 26-5A softball race after a 12-2 run-rule win in five innings over Kyle-Lehman on Tuesday.
Layla Salazar hit a home run and drove in three as part of a 2-3 night at the plate. Allie Mize went 3-3 and scored two runs.
Vanessa Sanchez went 2-4 with four RBIs. Chloe Belicek and Camryn Rios each doubled and drove in two.
Graylin Salazar collected a base hit, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Madyson Schultze earned the complete-game win in the pitcher’s circle. She allowed two runs on two hits, struck out three, and walked seven in five innings.
Seguin (7-1, 2-0) competes in the Floresville Tournament this Thursday – Saturday.
Shiner edges Navarro softball with late rally
(Shiner) – Navarro led Tuesday’s softball game at Shiner 3-2 in the middle of the seventh inning, but the Comanches plated a pair of runs in the final frame to hand the Panthers a 4-3 loss.
Sydni Stevens hit a solo home run for Navarro. Sarah Falor had the Panthers’ only other hit.
Samantha Mundine and Haley Karlik each scored once.
Sam Wegman pitched 6-1/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits with two strikeouts and seven walks.
Navarro (5-3) competes in the Dal Valle tournament this Thursday – Saturday.
