(Seguin) – The Seguin ISD is expecting to give approval for next year’s school calendar. The academic draft calendar is being recommended to the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees after a number of representatives in the Superintendent’s Teacher Communication Council reported that their “campus colleagues overwhelmingly favor this calendar.”
The school calendar has always been of interest to parents but with recent changes sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic such as last year’s earlier start date and the district’s response to help address the academic needs of children with the introduction of intersession days and the addition of half days, it has become an even more important tool as families plan for the upcoming year.
On the agenda for presentation are the 2022-2023 proposed dates. This includes the first day of school slated for Monday, Aug. 15. The last day of school is also proposed for May 29, a date that falls before Memorial Day. Intercession days for all campuses have also been included. Those dates include Oct.19-21 and Feb. 1-3.
Upon piecing together the recommended calendar, the Seguin ISD community was encouraged to provide its thoughts and ideas regarding the draft instructional calendar through participation of the online ThoughtExchange survey. In this survey, individuals were asked to input and rate the input of others regarding their thoughts on the calendar.
The Seguin ISD meeting will be held today at 6:30 p.m. in the Seguin ISD Administration Building located in Oak Park Mall. A copy of the proposed calendar can be found on the Seguin ISD website at SeguinISD.net.
